Onchain encrypted mail
Your wallet is your inbox.
RE:mail sends encrypted mail and files from one wallet to another. There is no account, no password and no mail server. A smart contract on Robinhood Chain carries every message, and a small MAIL burn pays the postage.
Always public
Messages can be end-to-end encrypted, so only your recipient can read the content. But the sender, recipient, time, and approximate size of every message are permanently public onchain, encrypted or not. There is no private mode for that part.
Mail and files
Encrypted mail, with files, and no server
A message is a transaction. Your inbox is rebuilt in your browser from the chain, so any device with your wallet can read it.
Encrypted end to end
When your recipient has turned encryption on, a message is encrypted so that only the two of you can read it. When they have not, it goes as plain text, and the app tells you which before you send.
Files travel inside the message
Attach up to 16 files. They are encrypted inside the message itself, not parked on someone else's server. A whole message can be up to 88 KB, because all of it lives onchain.
Nothing to shut down
No mail server holds your account, so nobody can close it. Mail cannot be deleted, edited or taken down by anyone, the project included. That cuts both ways: an unencrypted message is public for good.
Keys only you hold
Your mail key is yours alone. Nobody can reset it or recover it for you, the project included.
How it works
No account. No password. No server.
Connect a wallet
That is the whole login.
Claim a name
A name.mail handle gives people something readable to send to.
Send
Write, attach, send. You pay the network's gas fee and a small MAIL burn as postage.
Names
A name you actually own
- ✓Permanent. A name.mail handle is minted as an ERC-721 token to your wallet.
- ✓Non-revocable. Nobody can take it back once it's yours, not by another user and not by the project.
- ✓Yours to move. Only the holder can transfer a handle, the same as any other token in your wallet.
Names of 8 or more characters are paid for once, in MAIL, which is burned. Shorter names are paid for once in ETH, on a fixed ladder from 0.01 ETH for 7 characters to 1 ETH for a single character.
Postage
Every message burns MAIL
Postage is not paid to anyone. It is destroyed, and there is no way to make more.
To send a message
1 MAIL
Each extra KB
0.1 MAIL
Ceilings, fixed forever
100 MAIL and 10 MAIL
Total supply
100,000,000 MAIL, no mint
1 MAIL and 0.1 MAIL are the working launch values. The project can change them, but never above the ceilings, so postage can never be priced out of reach. Claiming a name of 8 or more characters burns MAIL too.
Staking
Burned postage is what stakers share
From Release, the day the app opens to everyone, people who stake MAIL share a release tied to how much postage the network burned in the last two weeks. No usage, no release.
Share of each fortnight's burned postage released to stakers
The share steps down on a fixed calendar and is always below 100%, so burning your own MAIL to collect it back always loses.
Show as a table
| Fortnights | About months | Share released |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 13 | 0 to 6 | 99% |
| 14 to 19 | 6 to 9 | 75% |
| 20 to 26 | 9 to 12 | 50% |
- ✓At most 400,000 MAIL per fortnight. For the first four fortnights a floor of 25,000 MAIL is added while usage is small.
- ✓A fixed reserve. 40,000,000 MAIL is set aside for this, and it can never be topped up.
- ✓One year, then it ends. After 26 fortnights, whatever is left in the reserve is burned.
- ✓No fixed rate. A quiet fortnight releases little.
- ✓Not before Release. Staking opens when the app opens to everyone, not at the token launch.
The token
MAIL is postage, not a product
MAIL exists to be burned as postage when you send mail. That's it. There's no price, supply schedule, or launch date to announce here yet.

FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Is my mail private?+
The content of a message can be end-to-end encrypted so only your recipient can read it. But encryption never hides who sent a message, who received it, when it was sent, or roughly how big it was. Those are permanently public onchain, whether or not the message itself is encrypted.
What does sending a message cost?+
The network's gas fee, plus MAIL burned as postage: 1 MAIL per message and 0.1 MAIL for each extra KB at launch. There is no subscription and no mail server to pay for.
Can I lose my handle, or have it taken away?+
A name.mail handle is minted to your wallet as an ERC-721 token and stays there. It can't be revoked or reassigned by anyone, including the project, the same way you can't be locked out of anything else you hold in your own wallet.
What if I lose my keys?+
Nobody can recover them, the project included. If your wallet uses a keyring file, that file is the only backup, and the app makes you save it during setup.
What is MAIL for?+
Postage. It's burned when you send a message. It isn't priced, scheduled, or launched yet, and this page won't speculate about any of that until it's real.
